RyanAir: Stand Up “Seats” for £5, Restrooms £1

July 1st · 1 Comment

RyanAir AirlinesA lot of media outlets have made fun of the idea RyanAir is floating – charging £1 for passengers to use the lavatory during a flight but it actually makes sense. By adding that fee, people are more likely to use the restroom prior to getting on the plane, thus making it a little bit lighter. It also means that they’ll be using an airport restroom, which doesn’t flush it’s liquid into the air at 30,000 feet!

The idea of stand up “seats” doesn’t seem to be make much sense though, but the price of around £5 is very affordable. The problem has to do with safety regulations that require seat belts during takeoff, landing, and periods of turbulence. It’s hard to have a seat belt when you don’t have a seat. It’s still a clever idea though… we can always use a little more innovation.

I don’t think I’d be up for standing a whole flight! Even if it was only for 5 GBP!
